About Us

Our mission

Our mission is to serve customers by creating high-quality, small-batch products and making them widely available both online and in person. You may have even used our soaps in the past in guest rooms at Point Pleasant Resort, on a charter yacht, or at a vacation rental. You may have bought them at a local retailer throughout the Virgin Islands or even at the new double kiosk that JDNatlady's Creations has in the handmade products section in one of the pink buildings at Vendor's Plaza on the waterfront on St. Thomas. We also make it easy to shop online for our full range of products and get free shipping to the USA and US territories.

Hi, I am Aquannette Chinnery of JDNatlady's Creations.

Early start in science

At age 18, I graduated from the then-College of the Virgin Islands with a B.A. in Chemistry and entered a doctoral program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology ("MIT"). I have an M.S. in Biochemistry from MIT and worked for several years in science before transitioning to other careers.

My art career

I started my art career in 1988, and my paintings and drawings were well-received and sought after by collectors from the start. My artwork has appeared in publications, museum shows, gallery shows, and art exhibits. I have had two one-woman shows and have appeared in numerous group shows, including one in SOHO (New York City). In addition to New York, my art has been exhibited in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Georgia, and Antigua. I currently spend my days working on acrylic or watercolor paintings at JDNatlady's Creations' kiosk in Vendor’s Plaza and continue to be inspired by the beauty of our islands. I may sometimes be seen painting on location at one of the beaches on St. Thomas, particularly Magens Bay or Lindqvist Beach. JDNatlady's Creations produces art prints and notecards in the workshop on St. Thomas so that visitors and residents alike will be able to collect art that reminds them of the scenic views, people, culture, flora, and fauna of the Virgin Islands.

Why I started making handmade products

I was a crafter since childhood, but started making my own hair products in 2008 when I went back to wearing my natural hairstyles. My science background came in very handy. In 2011, I founded JDNatlady's Creations, LLC, and that one hair care product was joined by a full line of soaps, hair care products, skin care products, and other handmade products. Something new is often being created, so check back often.

Let's continue on this journey together!
